Parent &Teacher Academy
What do parents & teachers have in common? They matter to children, so they need to know each other, value each other, understand each other and help each other.
We invite all parents and teachers of the Westside School to attend. It will provide an overview of how learning happens, what strategies assist learning, and what strategies do not, according to the evidence provided by seminal works in educational psychology and cognitive science. Participants will learn together about such things as motivation, assessment, learning styles, self-directed learning, attention, and memory. They will also learn the truth about common, but untrue methods of learning ‘better’, often promoted by the world’s most famous ‘educators’.
Courses are made up of sessions of 2 hours in duration. They are delivered by local experts and curated by Graham Baldwin and Christie Berkey.
