Our Core Values

We offer the opportunity for all families whose values align with ours to enroll their children in our school where every child is known, valued, and understood by the exemplary adults who work with us. Some are teachers, some are support staff, some are volunteers: all are committed to our mission and vision, and all are guided by their commitment to our core values.

Our Vision & Mission

Our mission is to enable all our students to discover and reach their highest potential.

The Westside School is a place of happy excellence, a leader in learning and an inspiration to educators everywhere. We expect our students to work hard and to participate in a wide range of activities. We create and nurture the conditions for our students to develop an understanding of themselves and their world.

What We Believe

  • That all children have the potential to lead productive, fulfilling and happy lives.

  • That to help them, we must know, value and understand each of them.

  • That we must provide a psychologically and physically safe place for them to learn by maintaining an environment of respect, tolerance and honesty.

  • That we must nurture the whole child-cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains being equally important.

  • That we should ensure we continue learning ourselves, the better to help our students.

How We Pursue Our Mission

We operate a non-profit independent school in Vancouver’s Yaletown

Our school offers continuous education from Kindergarten to Grade 12 through three Programs. Though we offer the British Columbia mandated curriculum, we do so with a number of enrichments and unique processes that succeed best with those who join us for at least one complete program.
